Theme2 submission: Reflection

Enough of the people and portraits...this is more me!

Well I spent all last night trying to get a shot to work and was never really happy.  Came home today to have another go at it and decided to try something different.  Very quickly moved on from my previous idea and tried various versions of this.  This seemed to have the best composition.

If this doesn't get noticed as a thumbnail then nothing will!!

Hope you like it.

Awww me lovey!

BeakerSt: Cheers Mona...you were up late!
this is absolutely brilliant! could you please describe your process?
BeakerSt: Hi Nicole, thanks. There isn't really anything to say. I've used a tea light holder that is a silver cone (the line is where it hinges open) and just used the slanted edges to get the reflection to warp. Only post processing was trying to adjust the white balance as I haven't got any flash/lighting equipment. This was taken under the kitchen cabinet lights in a piece of A4! Nothing else was required, no cropping, no levels and no curves...lucky shot. smile

Mr B, you've done it again!
It's all been said above so I will only reflect that you comment about the tyranny of the rule of thumbnails is soooo true!
idleye
BeakerSt: Thanks idleye, I appreciate your compliment...I expect to fall down to earth on Monday when my thumbnails carry less of an impact.
WOW! Really impressive stuff Simon. I bow my hat to your attempt.
BeakerSt: Cheers Jide, I love virtual hat doffing, done it myself a couple of times. smile

Absolutely lovely, on par with Asiko's shot as the best attempt on this theme. Wonder who wins smile

This is very nicely composed, framed and photographed.

Oh P.s
You definitely get yourself a well deserved coveted "I Llikey" from the Subster smile
BeakerSt: Wow, I've survived a week and got a 'I Likey'!

Fantastic shot. Composition is spot on. Finding it hard to say how to improve it. Changing one of the greens for a blue maybe. No, thats just picky... lovely.
BeakerSt: If you want a copy I do cheap rates for country folk. wink

Wow! this IS the best reflection shot i've seen on shutterchance today! It's a very good and creative attempt. The colours, the composition, the concept... briliant (i'm gushing now). You win hands down. Well done, Simon, well done!
BeakerSt: Ah get out of here...there's a lot of strong shots today, maybe you've not seen them all.

Thanks for the compliments though, much appreciated smile

Now this is VERY creative and original.
Its because of shots like this that I knew I had to go out and do something totally different. LOL.

very colorful, what did you use for that reflection?
BeakerSt: Sorry for the tardy reply Mel, the reflection was a little tea-light holder I have that is cone shaped...ideal for creating the swirl effect. Curled silver paper would be just as good! Thanks for stopping by, Simon
