photoblog image A Questionable View on Life

A Questionable View on Life

A slightly melancholic view on the same scene

The end of the season
Everyone's home, packed up
The seats and views once covetted
Now barren, weather beaten and undesirable
To all but those in contemplation

Is someone sitting there in summer sitting there for a very different reason to a person sitting there in winter?

(again F11 helps fill the screen)

Uncluttered, yet it captures the atmosphere perfectly. This is a well composed photograph. The listing horizon is a minor distraction.
BeakerSt: Could I get away with calling it a rolling sea??

Lovely emotional hot Simon. This has a great feel to it, the puddles and the wave just add to the forlorn feeling I get from this.
Would a person sitting here in Rimini in winter be thinking differently to a person in summer?
Summer: Boy it's Hot. Row upon row of scantily dressed sunbathers on thousands of loungers in rows, while eating an ice cream, wondering who you fancy the most.
Winter: Thinking of lost loves while sitting on a damp seat in the wind in an anorak & woolly hat, cursing because the water has come through that hole in your boots and you now have cold wet feet.
Cool shot.

I'm a bit worried about Sheeplovers introduction! "Lovely emotional hot Simon"! the mind boggles. lol

But seriously, he has articulated very well the emotion of this image and how this scene would look in different conditions.

love the shot, lonely and cold. mal

just looking at it makes me feel cold
BeakerSt: It's not a shot to dwell on...enough to depress anyone! Thanks tadders
Nice, emotive shot.
BeakerSt: Thanks, as usual

Brrrr.. this looks chilly. Chris's shot (Rotund) looks positivly warm by comparison.
BeakerSt: I've seen what you mean, to be honest it was quite warm in Italy, just overcast which lent itself better to a monochrome dowdy feel. Sorry to make you feel chilly!
This scene makes me feel lonely and chilled.
BeakerSt: Cool, that was the feeling that I wanted to try and get across. Thanks

Great shot - it certainly looks more atmospheric in these conditions than in bright summer sun. The puddles of water add greatly to the forlorn mood and the empty bench is a powerful symbol of missing human presence.

BeakerSt: Thanks Ingrid, I'm pleased it worked...I usually go for big bold colours and lines so the response is very encouraging.

This is my kind of shot. Wonderful melancholic air to it. Not just the empty bench and steps to nowhere (both very symbolic), but the boiling sea and the featureless sky. Nice tonal changes, great use of diagonal zones - I could go on. A likey.
BeakerSt: Ahhh cheers blackie...lovely to hear it hit a positive note!
Wow, great composition, nostalgic atmosphere : Thumbs up !!
BeakerSt: Thanks for the thumbs Zeb, glad they are up!
Having been brought up near to the coast this sums up the British Seaside out of season in a wonderfully simple way.
Stunning shot. So much emotion yet no people in it. Lovely.

Could almost be the great British Summer this year. Living on the North West coast I feel the resonance of this, very apt and the words are thought provoking as well.
