photoblog image Spiral Bound

Spiral Bound

Well I was lucky this weekend...was with nice friends, was given nice wine and was taken to the zoo!!  Hope you had a relaxing weekend!?

I had a good time in the zoo, not because I saw loads of animals but because I took lots of images of repetitive themes.  All this week I'm posting shots on this theme and all taken in London Zoo...hope you enjoy!!!

August's Challenge
Give me an image that shouts 'Summer' this time, deadline is the last day of the month and the usual rules apply.  If you don't know the rules then check out my 'About me' page.

Ooooh I like this Simon. Cool colour drawers me through. Step into the spiral. Nice shot clever clogs
smile xx
BeakerSt: Stay tuned, I have 5 this week that I am so so happy about. My book is going to be about repetitive patterns "BeakerSt: Over and Over Again"
Simon, I have to give it to you, u have knack of captured the most yet not so obvious images in the most unique way. grin
BeakerSt: You do people, I do inanimate objects...but I probably get less grief from my subjects. wink
very clever shot, I love it!!!
BeakerSt: Cheers Patrick
Nicely done!
BeakerSt: Thanks Martin
Nicely spotted how the handles form spirals.
Love the blue toning of this one. Is it made on purpose?
BeakerSt: Thanks Peter, I wouldn't say I did it deliberately but when processing it I spotted the colour tones and liked them so emphasised them a little more whilst trying to keep it realistic. It appeared when adjusting the curves. Pleased you like it and thanks for the comment. Simon
Nice shot Simon..Thought I'm a bit concerned that the first loop is forming a distration. Just a personal thought on the image.
BeakerSt: Hmmmm, I was trying to create a tunnel effect and at the same time clearly show that it was a park bench. I understand what you are seeing as a distraction though...food for thought for next time. Cheers Simon

Very nice point of view.
BeakerSt: Thanks Frank
Lovely angel !!!
BeakerSt: Who are you calling angel? wink Thanks, I assume you meant angle!
Love the tonal range of colours and the unusualness of the everyday. I have one little picky thing though. It niggles me that the 'tunnel' effect is almost central to the image but not quite and I would be itching to crop on the lefthand side to make a square with the eye being drawn in dead centre.
You really do have an eye for repetitive pattern!
BeakerSt: I see your point, I got caught as I wanted to keep the initial part of the bench back but I should re-crop it. In fact I will tonight, I'll update the file versions.

Thanks, you've confirmed my suspicions
very clever composition smile
BeakerSt: Cheer deji
Well spotted and captured and lovely tones.

We also had a trip to the zoo this weekend. Took our daugther Abbie to Twycross and she loved it.
BeakerSt: I don't have a child called Abbie...are you sure it's ours?
Nice angle, you have a great eye for details smile

you drive me round the twist you do!

I have to say that I quite like the central composition contrary to the thoughts of others but my compo is always flawed! I like the shot as is! mal
Love the perspective on this one - it really draws the eye in and makes you feel almost giddy! I actually like the first spiral being out of focus. Looking forward to the rest of the series as I'm very interested in this idea of repetetive patterns in the everyday.
Ingrid
I really like this. it is a photograph that commands attention - really holds your attention and draws you right in. (:o)

Everything has been said ....great one again Simon!
Petra
Not an obvious view, the question is - what made you spot it, well seen.
BeakerSt: I actively look for this kind of thing! smile
ooooh! lovely shot. Nice view! Lovely tone you've got there too... Viewing shots like yours is an inspiration to my kind smile
BeakerSt: That's very flattering of you. Thanks
I think this is my favourite of your repetive shots, I like the composition and toning, and like Roz you need to look into it. Nice.
BeakerSt: Cheers Nigel...my favourites are still to come, Thursday and Friday wink

Superb shot Simon. I keep putting my hand over the scren to see if I would have chopped off the bits of the seat left of the spiral, bt the verdict is still out.
A really nice shot. Also makes me laugh thinking of the other zoo visitors seeing you take pictures of a bench on your knees wink
