Surf's Up

I hope you all had a good weekend.  We had good weather again with no rain for a few weeks now so I'm expecting a hose-pipe ban any day soon!  Still no sign of the broadband and strangely even though they know I've moved house and don't have a line they continue to charge me line rental and have sent my replacement modem to my old address??  If it were easy I'd go elsewhere.  Have a nice Monday.

Challenge II - "Shadow" closing date is the end of the month.
Brief is simple, the focal point of the shot has to be a shadow.  I don't want to any pet's called Shadow or a stack of money won on a horse called Shadow...pure and simple it has to be a shadow based shot.  The reason I have set this as the challenge is that quite often we are distracted by the solid subject, whether it be a person or a lamp or chair and quite often we overlook the shadow it has created in either bright sunlight or even strong light.  It can make a interesting composition when considered.

Relevance and Creativity
Very relevant and I like it a lot. It has a lovely delicate quality about it. 8

Overall impact
It’s like the pattern on a delicate lace curtain and it draws me into it. Scores 8

Composition
Now I think this is quite clever. Whether deliberate/conscious or not there are three different versions of the same shadow in this. I like the more obvious shadow down the centre which are clearly leaves or blossom on branches against the while wall. Then to the left you have less defined shadows of the same subject split from the first set by the strong line created by the corner of the wall. Then on the far right there is the edge of the doorway which helps the eye make sense of the scene and finally you can see strong crisp shadows. Scores an 8 as I’d like to have seen a little more of the door I think 8

Quality of image
My only negative comment is that the corner is starting to look a little false. Score 8

Total: 32/40
great shot
BeakerSt: Thanks yeni smile
