photoblog image Look to the Light

Look to the Light

This is in St Peter's Square in front of the Basilica in the Vatican.  I chose the title for two reasons, one the adoration of religion and the other more obvious.

Trust me to go to Rome and photograph chairs.

BeakerSt: Cheers paul smile
Great framing and great light too... the grey versus the orange light on the ground... it's quite beautiful. Well done and above all well seen ! smile
BeakerSt: There's this beautiful architecture and I'm excited about plastic seating! Sometimes I think I'm weird.

hey shadow man did you chase the crowd away? Another great spot and lovely shot. mal
BeakerSt: They're all kindly standing just out of the frame. It took a long time to persuade them all to move I can tell you! wink

Mal - the King of Patterns - would be in love with such beautiful patterns of the empty chairs and cobble stones. smile Good composition.
BeakerSt: He's taken to calling me 'Shadow man' now! Thanks for the comment

Superb composition.

I wouldn't have known where it was, but now I do the quality of the chairs is rather surprising.
BeakerSt: The weather is a little unpredictable to have red velvet sofas I guess.
You don't need me to tell you the sweeping diagonal makes a great dynamic picture. The shaft of light leads us in very nicely too. The shadows, cobbles and chairs altogether make for a good geometric composition too.

I also believe that a good title/caption is part of the picture package, and this is spot on too, given where it was.
BeakerSt: I probably have as much fun choosing a title! Glad you appreciated it.
OMG...Simon...WOW!!! Impressive. This is calling to be exhibited someday.
BeakerSt: An exhibition! Cool...I at least know where I can get some seats from!

Cheers Jide

You have this thing about lastic chairs I recall...

Looks like these catholics have disky knees! The chairs look like they could do with a bit of a polish
I absolutely love the colours of your picture. Composition is splotless too... Have you seen ''I robot''? For some reason your shoot remainds me this movie...

Beautiful light on this one - really like the fact that the light makes the paving looks like it's "soft & comfy", if you know what I mean....

I'm all for the light. It seems as though someone "important" is about to walk down the aisle.

I can't wait to go to Rome and photograph chairs smile No I'm serious... I think Europe possibly has the most artistic chairs. This is the Vatican, but even tiny European cafes have picture worthy designs
