Uni(que) Cycle

I may only get relatively low numbers passing this way each day but I have to say thanks to each of you for taking the time.  Feel free to leave a comment even if it's to say you do or don't like something, or even just to say hi.  Critique is always welcome but more importantly I hope that the pictures I put before you make you think a little differently about how you look at things.  This subject for example...not exactly a tourist attraction but I personally see it as one of my best finds.

Art is rarely where you would expect to find it.

that's a great shot, I like how the bike feels in this environment
BeakerSt: Cheers, it may not be a candidate for my living room wall but I think in terms of shot composition and feel it is one I like a lot...glad the feel of the environment came across, that was my aim with it.
i like the feel of this shot. did you do any pp with it? not sure about the cigarette butt. i might have cloned it out myself.
BeakerSt: I did my levels correction to achieve true blacks and whites, then I use the curves tool to get a better tonal range. Both of those I do on all my shots. For this one I then use the dodge tool to try and lift the profile of the bike and then I reduced the colour saturation a little just to mute the colours a tad.

I deliberated over the fag butt and in the end decided that it was there, it was in a complimentary position and it, imho, added to the feel in the sense that it too had been carelessly discarded.

It's all good feedback, especially when people are brave/honest enough to offer suggestions.
When I first looked at this shot I thought you should have cropped the cigarette butt but having looked at it more closely it adds to the sense of mood that the image portrays. Nice work.
BeakerSt: Same thoughts as myself Bernie! Glad you like it.

just to say hi...
ps...you've installed google analytics ... didn't you?
petra
BeakerSt: Hi Petra, yes I have. I know where everyone who looks at my blog lives now...unfortunately I don't know who's who though! I have always wondered how many visitors are returning and how many are newcomers. I suppose I'd prefer to have a healthy number of people return than have 100 come every day and never see them again!

Maybe we need to start a discussion thread of the most useful aspects as the reports are quite lengthy to say the least!

this is nice street photography, very journalistic
BeakerSt: That's a very interesting comment. I've no idea what the definition of street photography is but I hadn't considered this to be it...rightly or wrongly. Thanks for making me thing Dotun smile

... if it's broken abandon it by the side of the road and get a new one!

Were you actually lying on the ground to take this picture?
BeakerSt: Almost! Luckily the R1 has an LCD screen on the top so I could put the camera on the floor and slightly prop up the lens. Was able to use the self timer to make sure I didn't shake during the shutter release. Not sure I'd have taken the same shot without the screen as it would have required me to lie down...and the floor certainly wasn't that appealing! smile
Great texture on the wall ! I like the colour of the bicycle... and the cigarette on the foreground (is that correct ?)
BeakerSt: Yes, the cigarette seems to have been noticed. smile
